Job Description
General Description of the Job:
Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over a large crew of unskilled, semiskilled, and skilled workers.
Essential Functions
- In coordination with District Supervisor or superior, schedules work projects and assigns staff and equipment; orders required parts for irrigation repairs;
- Inspects maintenance, repair, installation and construction sites and gives technical advice and assistance to personnel;
- Checks projects for progress and for conformance to work plans and orders;
- Receives requests for emergency and unscheduled work and coordinates completion of task;
- Coordinates the use of available equipment, materials, and personnel to obtain maximum effectiveness and economy;
- May supervise assigned areas such as landscaping or building maintenance.
- Monitor contractors performing park maintenance work or construction.
- Assists with athletic field maintenance, mowing, or other activity;
- Participates in employee evaluations; assist with budget preparation and monitoring;
- Clears registers and returns money for depositing;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
- Any associate degree from an accredited junior college or any equivalent combination of education and experience, plus four (4) years of experience in park or general maintenance work, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to obtain a Florida State Pesticide Applicator License within six (6) months of employment. Position may require other special licenses or certificates.
- Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in the last three (3) years.
