Boise Public Library is searching for a Librarian I at the popular and busy Cole Ustick branch. This position will be great for a new professional to grow and learn from experts in the field :
- Performs professional librarian duties requiring the use of sound judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies and determining work methods in meeting public needs for library materials and services.
- Work involves continuous public contact, requiring the exercise of considerable patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Develops programs, engages in outreach activities and provides customer service including circulation and accounts, readers advisory and research assistance.
- Engages with a diverse clientele to provide assistance, resolve conflicts and foster a welcoming environment.
- Serves on various library committees, participates in professional development and promotes the library to the community.
- Works 1 evening each week and rotating Saturdays to provide the stellar service our library offers.
- May be required to work at various locations in the library system. This position works under immediate / direct supervision.

Essential Functions
Develops and implements innovative library programs and instruction classes for people of various ages and with an understanding of the diverse perspectives, lived experiences and cultures within our community. Supports the advertising and marketing of library programs.
Resolves complex circulation issues. Interprets and communicates library policies and procedures to library users and staff at an intermediate level.
Provides exceptional service including reference and readers advisory, research assistance, circulation and account services for library users. Facilitates access to the library's diverse collection and resources. Provides assistance with and troubleshoots for technology resources such as library computer use, personal device use, accessing digital resources and operating the printers, scanners, fax machines and self-checkout machines.
Maintains an intermediate knowledge of library resources and practices and an awareness of current trends and technologies through regular review of professional literature and participation in continuing education and professional development opportunities such as seminars and workshops. Serves on professional teams and work groups to advance librarianship efforts at the Boise Public Library.
Coordinates day-to-day work and delegates tasks in absence of supervisor / manager; provides guidance, direction and support for training for lower-level staff. Conducts administrative duties such as balancing the register and making bank deposits.
