Program Objectives
The objectives of the City of Boise Internship Program are to:
Gain exposure to FP&A, treasury, and revenue management
Coordinate and assist with key projects within the finance department
Develop and enhance financial modeling and analytical skills
Help interns determine if a career in municipal finance is right for them
Internship Activities
Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as:
Treasury
Build and enhance cash forecasting models
Construct process automation for approval workflows
Critically analyze and augment internal controls
Build BI reporting and dashboards
Learn the essentials of project management
Budget (FP&A) – Community Infrastructure Taxing District
Learn the legal framework for taxing districts within the State of Idaho
Conducting budget to actual financial analysis
Preparing and presenting financial reports
Revenue (Accounts Receivable)
Build cloud-based Nintex Process Manager process maps
Automate critical processes using Power Platform tools
Shadow experienced professionals
To be eligible for the City of Boise Internship Program, applicants must be:
Undergraduate or graduate students with a strong academic record or graduated in the last 12 months from an accredited university
Majoring in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
Have a strong interest in accounting, budget( FP&A), treasury, or strategic planning
Be able to work up to 20 hours per week (negotiable)
Be able to commit to the entire internship program from May through August 2025
Preferred Experience
Experience with BI reporting such as Power BI or Tableau
- Experience with Microsoft Poer Platform
Salary : $16 - $18
