What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Intern position at City of Boise?
Program Objectives
The objectives of this opportunity include:
Gain exposure to complete lifecycle grants management responsibilities
Coordinate and assist with key projects within the Finance Department’s Grants Management Division
Develop and enhance skills related to effective project management, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis
Help intern determine if a career grants management is right for them
Internship Activities
Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as:
Conduct grant prospect research to identify potential funding opportunities, including reviewing formal Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs)
Develop competitive grant proposals, including writing project narratives in partnership with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and preparing detailed project budgets
Learn the essentials of project management
Receive specialized training in Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR 200)
Conduct budget to actual financial analysis
Prepare various reports, including performance reports demonstrating compliance with grant terms and conditions as well as impact reports highlighting the benefits of specific grant programs within our community
Support the implementation of a dedicated grants management software system
Build cloud-based Nintex Process Manager process maps

To be eligible for the City of Boise’s Summer Internship Program, applicants must be:
Undergraduate or graduate students with a strong academic record or who graduated in the last 12 months from an accredited university
Majoring in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
Have a strong interest in grant writing and grants management
Be able to work up to 20 hours per week (negotiable)
Be able to commit to the entire internship program from May through August 2025
Salary : $16 - $18
