IT field Tech performs onsite installation and maintenance support on a variety of computer equipment, printers, software, and specialized equipment. Work requires a comprehensive understanding of hardware and software support and the exercise of considerable initiative and customer service. Work is performed independently with minimal supervision.
Two years experience providing basic PC hardware/software support which includes installing and configuring PC’s and/or peripherals, installing software, and performing routine file backup operations in a medium to large scale computer or client/server system, and a High School diploma or GED and or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Work in this position also includes close vision and distance vision. Employees will sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions. Employees are exposed to electrical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.
This position works: all shifts as needed; on short notice; as part of a rotation, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Provides daily system administration and support for department-level computer systems. Identifies and interprets malfunctions and initiates corrective action to restore operation. Reviews processes and procedures followed by the end-user to determine steps taken prior to malfunction and explain correct procedures. Monitors computer systems and supporting hardware equipment and performs routine checks to verify system stability. Assists help desk by answering questions from computer users. Activates network ports for computers and VoIP phones. Installs and configures new computers and applications based upon computer or software life cycle. Coordinates deployment of personal computers (PC), laptops, and peripherals as dictated by the replacement cycle process. Assists in establishing new computer workstations as needed. Ensures all new and re-distributed equipment is suitable for use and functioning appropriately.
- Develops and writes procedures for installation and use of hardware and software. Writes user instruction manuals and acts as a technical consultant once new systems are put into operation. Maintains service logs and may monitor maintenance agreements, warranties, and site licenses. Updates documentation to record new equipment installation, new sites, and changes to computer configuration. Documents technical processes and troubleshooting guidelines in the knowledge management database.
- Analyzes department needs through study and evaluation of department workflows and recommends future hardware and software additions or enhancements that will support department objectives.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Five years of progressively responsible experience providing intermediate to advanced PC hardware/software support in a large scale client/server system.
CompTIA A certificate for hardware and operating systems
Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM Software
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid state issued driver's license.
