Youth Activity Assistant Instructor-Sailing:

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand and walk.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions.
- Assists instructor with the instruction or youth & families (ages 12 ) in the sport of sailing.
- Work is performed in a class setting and will be indoors and outdoors (open, flat water).
- Open to all interested persons aged 16 and older
- This position is designated as A-Will.

Requires education and/or experience to attain the following:
- 16 years or older
- Ability to deal with individuals in a friendly and tactful manner;
- work varied hours including evenings and weekends;
- display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public, and other organizations;
- communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance;
- complete assignments in a timely fashion;
- understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations;
- maintain prompt and regular attendance;
- perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
- 1 year experience working with youths from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- 3 years experience with the sport of sailing and power boating.
- U.S. Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor Certification
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) Certification for Idaho
- SafeSport Training Certification
