GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Parks Laborer will be responsible for a variety of maintenance and construction projects for landscaped areas of City public grounds and parks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the mowing, trimming, spraying for weed control, and irrigation of public grounds.
- Cuts grass and trims weeds on City property.
- Cleans buildings, wash windows, and empties trash bins.
- Digs flower beds and plants flowers.
- Paints benches and playground equipment.
- Performs opening and closing procedures at City parks to include raising and lowering flags.
- Repair, maintain, stock, and clean restrooms.
- Trim trees and bushes Citywide.
- Perform general maintenance of all equipment.
- Clean and maintain ball fields.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous parks and grounds maintenance experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the operation maintenance and repair of lawn mowers, tractors, and all other equipment used in parks and grounds operations.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions with limited supervision.
- Ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent sitting, but may involve walking or standing.
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Hold and grip objects.
- Occasional periods of sitting in a vehicle.
- Exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
- Acceptable Physical Capacity Profile test results are required.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License and must remain insurable under the City’s liability insurance policy.
