As an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) for the City of Borger, you will play a crucial role in providing emergency medical care to residents and visitors in pre-hospital settings. Reporting to the EMS Coordinator or designated supervisor, you will be assigned to one of three shifts working a 48/96 schedule to respond to emergency calls, assess patients, administer medical treatment, and assist Paramedics in patient care and transportation. - Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing medical care and treatment to patients in various situations, including trauma, medical emergencies, and cardiac events.
- Assist Paramedics in patient assessment, medical interventions, and medication administration, following established protocols and procedures.
- Perform advanced airway management techniques, including endotracheal intubation and supraglottic airway insertion, as needed.
- Administer intravenous (IV) fluids and medications, interpret cardiac rhythm strips, and assist with cardiac monitoring and defibrillation.
- Operate and maintain EMS equipment and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring readiness for response at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, other EMS personnel, and medical facilities to coordinate patient care and transportation.
- Document patient assessment findings, treatments provided, and other relevant information accurately and timely in electronic medical records systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuing education programs to maintain and enhance AEMT skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing EMS operations and patient care.
- Collaborate with other emergency responders, including Paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and medical personnel, to ensure coordinated and effective response to emergencies.
- Current certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited AEMT training program.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and families in crisis situations.
