As a Seasonal Recreation Bus Driver, you are responsible for safely transporting passengers to and from recreational activities and events organized by the City of Borger during the summer season. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor or designated supervisor, you will operate a bus or other passenger vehicle, ensure passenger safety and comfort, and provide excellent customer service. - Safe Operation:Operate a bus or other passenger vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws, regulations, and safety protocols, and adhering to established routes and schedules.
- Passenger Transport:Transport passengers, including children, adults, and seniors, to and from recreational activities, events, and facilities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the journey.
- Customer Service:Provide friendly, courteous, and professional customer service to passengers, assisting with boarding and disembarking, answering inquiries, and addressing any concerns or special needs as they arise.
- Route Navigation:Navigate designated routes and destinations, using maps, GPS devices, or other navigation tools to ensure timely and efficient transportation and minimize delays or detours.
- Vehicle Maintenance:Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for any mechanical issues, damage, or safety hazards, and reporting any concerns to the Recreation Supervisor or designated supervisor.
- Emergency Response:Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or incidents during transit, including medical emergencies, accidents, or disruptive behavior, following established procedures and protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers.
- Communication:Maintain open and clear communication with passengers, coworkers, supervisors, and other relevant stakeholders, providing updates, announcements, and instructions as needed to ensure a smooth and pleasant travel experience.
- Recordkeeping:Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, passenger counts, and other relevant information, completing required logs, reports, and documentation in a timely and thorough manner.
- Vehicle Cleanliness:Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, both inside and out, including regular cleaning of windows, floors, seats, and other surfaces, and ensuring that trash is properly disposed of after each trip.
- Compliance:Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures governing passenger transportation, including safety standards, licensing requirements, and vehicle maintenance guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in passenger transportation or related field preferred.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required.
- Previous experience operating passenger vehicles, such as buses, shuttles, or vans, preferred, with demonstrated safe driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with passengers of all ages and backgrounds, as well as coworkers, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Customer service-oriented attitude, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and ensuring passenger satisfaction and comfort throughout their journey.
- Physical stamina and agility to sit for extended periods, operate vehicle controls, and assist passengers with boarding and disembarking as needed.
