Job Description Summary:
As part of the afterschool team, the Program Assistant supports administrative tasks associated with running the Family Resource Schools (FRS) Afterschool Program. This is a temporary 10- to 20-hour position available at three (3)FRS sites, elementary schools within the city of Boulder: Columbine, Crest View, and University Hill. FRS supports families in raising healthy, thriving children and serves the whole school community with focus on at-risk, traditionally under-represented and under-served children and families.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs administrative tasks related to the student registration process.
- Provides excellent customer service to school staff and parents, guardians, caretakers seeking information.
- Supports data collection, entry, and maintenance using Excel spreadsheets.
- Responsible for keeping accurate and up to date program data.
- Communicates with afterschool program instructors and school staff to ensure program runs smoothly and per program requirements.
- Assists with distribution of snacks, collection of attendance, and dismissal.
- Supports student supervision to ensure safe behaviors.
- Assists with daily setup and teardown tasks and as needed, in support of other afterschool event.
- Provides cash handling on occasion.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability and desire to work in an elementary school setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and city/school staff.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook and Google platform.
- Availability to work Mondays through Thursdays between 1-6 p.m., mid-August to end of May.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a fair, supportive, and cooperative manner.
- Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with elementary aged children.
- Biliterate English/Spanish.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year professional experience in customer service, receptionist, and cash handling or any combination.

- Physical and Mental Effort: Works independently with minimal supervision, prioritizes, and resolves problems and manages multiple projects; successfully performs in team-oriented environment. Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.
- Work Environment: Able to work with a wide range of sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. Responsible for safety of self and others, materials, and equipment. Availability to work Mondays through Thursdays between 1-6 p.m., mid-August to end of May.
