Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision, performs all cleaning services to ensure a clean, healthy, and safe facility. Performs related duties as required.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs janitorial duties. Cleans bathrooms, vacuums, and mops floors, empties all recycle bins and trash, cleans all surfaces, cleans sinks, and sink areas, empties clay traps, vacuum and scrub stairs and all other cleaning duties as required including the following:
Disposes of trash, recycling, and compost.
Cleans, dusts, and sweeps offices, locker room, restrooms, and breakroom.
Cleans public computers, keyboards, and computer mouse devices as needed.
Mops, vacuums, shampoos, steam cleans, waxes, and polishes floors and carpets.
Performs light snow and ice removal as needed.
Replaces light bulbs, batteries, restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
Sweeps interior and exterior building(s) main entrance(s).
Checks all restrooms every 2 hours or more as needed for cleanliness and to restock supplies.
Uses various tools and equipment in the performance of custodial and maintenance tasks: including but not limited to small manual tools, long-handled tools, applicators, and mobile cleaning equipment. Performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment.
Replenishes and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies.
Orders and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies.
Restocks supplies as needed.
Keeps building(s) in good condition and working order.
Remains generally alert to building conditions indicating anticipated or needed repairs and reports such conditions to supervisor.
Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to City property.
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city
Responsible for knowing and complying with all City and department policies.
Participates in professional trainings and development; and
Adheres to attendance and workplace attire policies.
Additional Duties may include:
Transports vehicles to support vehicle maintenance.
Performs landscape lawn maintenance.
Cleans up grounds around city Buildings.
Power washing
MINIMUM QAULIFICATIONS:
Ability to demonstrated reliable work habits.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history. Must be able to pass and maintain at least a level one Criminal Justice information System (CJIS) Certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with an industrial or janitorial firm and thorough knowledge of custodial materials and methods.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED

Supervision Exercised: None
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move items weighing 50lbs or more.
Ability to climb ladder.
Ability to use machines and equipment used in custodial operations.
Willingness and ability to work alternate shift schedules, irregular hours, extended shift hours, weekends, evenings, holidays, stand-by rotation, and/or emergencies as required.
May be required to work evening and/or weekends to provide backup during the absence of other custodial staff.
