City of Bridges High School (COBHS), a 501(c)3 nonprofit private independent school, seeks passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors for a 2-year term. We are currently looking for a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and General Board Members to help advance our mission and vision as we reimagine education to focus on justice, equity, and real-world learning.

Open Positions and Responsibilities
Board Chair
- Acts as the principal leader of the Board and ensures alignment with the school’s mission and vision.
- Facilitates board meetings, ensuring effective collaboration and decision-making.
- Works closely with the Head of School to provide strategic leadership and oversight.
- Serves as the primary representative of the Board to the community and key stakeholders.
Vice Chair
- Supports the Chair and assumes leadership duties in their absence.
- Assists with strategic planning, meeting facilitation, and goal-setting initiatives.
- Works closely with the Chair and Executive Director to ensure smooth operations of the Board.
Secretary
- Maintains accurate records of all Board meetings, including minutes and attendance.
- Ensures that Board documents are organized and accessible to members.
- Oversees official correspondence on behalf of the Board as needed.
Treasurer
- Oversees the financial health of the organization, including budget review and approval as well as the review of monthly financial statements.
- Provides financial reports to the Board and ensures compliance with nonprofit financial regulations.
- Works with staff and financial advisors to manage audits, tax filings, and financial planning.
General Board Members
- Contribute expertise to guide COBHS in achieving its goals.
- Serve on committees, participate in fundraising efforts, and promote the school within the community.
- Attend monthly Board meetings and engage actively in discussions and initiatives.
Expectations for All Board Members
- Understand and support COBHS’s mission, vision, and values.
- Participate in establishing and achieving long- and short-term goals for the school.
- Act as ambassadors, promoting COBHS positively in the community.
- Foster collaborative and respectful relationships with other Board Members and staff.
- Attend board meetings.
- Support COBHS’s fundraising initiatives in alignment with the school’s needs.
Qualifications
- A deep interest in reimagining education, particularly through experiential, justice-focused learning.
- Commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in educational spaces.
- Expertise in governance, fundraising, grant writing, compliance and risk management is highly desirable.
