Position: Head Lifeguard
Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor
Salary Range: $15.25-17.25/hour
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. This position is scheduled Saturdays 12pm-5p and Sundays 10am-3pm September through May. During summer months, this position is scheduled 11:30am-6:30pm Saturdays & Sundays and as needed Monday-Friday. The applicant must have reliable transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to ensure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various tasks as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Attends mandatory monthly in-service trainings to stay up to date on skills.
- Greets Splish Splash Party hosts and guests, reviews and enforces facility rules and policies, checks rental spaces for damage or debris, completes required paperwork with party host.
- Assists Lifeguards with rule enforcement and education; assists patrons with selecting and wearing U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation devices.
- Works with Pool Supervisor and Aquatics Supervisor to provide a safe, clean, family friendly environment for patrons.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Two to three years experience as a Lifeguard.
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.
- Facility operations and cash handling experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge and demonstration of customer service standards and procedures.
