Assist with the preventative maintenance on all police vehicles. Relay vehicles to and from the Police Department to either the City of Brighton City Shops or authorized builder who warranties the work on the vehicles. This position must work well independently and with other team members, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton’s mission and values.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Report to the department’s fleet supervisor with vehicle maintenance and vehicle builds. Must be feel comfortable driving different types and sizes of vehicles.
Road test police vehicles as needed and asses their condition and determine repairs, check tire pressure, oil levels and washer fluid levels. Must also be able to do lights duty repairs as needed and directed by the fleet supervisor.
Performs sally port maintenance, such as general clean up.
Do minor business errand for staff members.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Operation of standard vehicles.
Equipment and procedures used in preventive maintenance, basic knowledge of air gauges, and air compressors.
Ability to:
Use a variety of tools and equipment.
Demonstrate safe and considerate work practices.
Maintain an excellent and respectful working relationship with Fleet staff and all City employees.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Learn to maintain a variety of inventory and maintenance records.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Read repair manuals and understand diagrams.
Perform basic computer operations to run maintenance software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
This is an entry level part time position. Applicant must currently be enrolled in a form of education such as High School, Trade School, or Higher Education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must lift up to 20 pounds continuously and up to 40 pounds on occasion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s License and safe driving record.
