- Applicants must reside within the City limits of Brighton or attend a School District 27J School

- As part of the Growing Grads Summer Internship Program, the following dates are required for interns to attend: June 9, June 10, June 17 and July 22.
Definition:
The position works on and assists in completing duties and projects across a variety of divisions within the Streets and Fleet Department, with a majority of the time working in the Engineering Department.
Example of Duties:
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research means and methods, market products, and industry initiatives.
- Assistin preparing documents, schedules, estimates, quantities, and other typical design and construction items.
- Scan and archive project documents.
- On-site construction observations, inspections, photographs, and documentation.
- Provide assistancewith inventory organization and management.
- Assistwith updating the City of Brighton’s website using content management system as needed.
- May serve as backup assistant to the Street Administrative office with clerical support as needed.
- Review Civil Engineering plans
- Analyze reports received through See Click Fix, and provide possible solutions
- Utilizing AI to prepare recommendations and reports
- Attend weekly Engineering meetings
- General clerical as assigned
- Answer phones as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability tomaintainconfidentiality of all file information.
- Ability to effectively interact and work cooperatively with supervisors, staff members, and the public.
- Strong knowledge of the English language and grammar.
- Ability to effectively communicate through both oral and written means.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to stand forlong periods.
- Ability to create files andmaintainfile space.
- Work with electronic storage media, such as hard drives and CD’s.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Use scanners to convert forms, receipts, and reports into electronic format.
- Ability to be near construction activities, heavy equipment, and construction materials.
- Must wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) asrequired, includingclosedtoeshoes.
- May berequiredto lift objects on occasion of up to 50 lbs.

Education and Training:
Driver’s License preferred, but not required.
Schedule:
Position to start the week of June 9th. Summer Internship hours would be 15-20 hours per week up to a total of 150 hours.
Work hours will be during working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
