Hiring Salary - $17.00 hourly
DEFINITION
Responsible for the safety and well being of all participants in the pool area. Enforce all pool rules and oversee the conduct of patrons using the facility. Ensure effective customer service. Maintain or gain the knowledge of swim lessons and ability to teach. Perform general pool maintenance, and administers CPR/ First Aid as needed. This position must work well in group setting/peers and with the public, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Works under the supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator, Pool Manager(s) and Head Lifeguard. The Lifeguard does not supervise others.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Protects the safety and well being of each person using the Brighton Aquatic facilities. No other duty shall jeopardize this primary responsibility.
Promptly enforces all rules and regulations.
Provide CPR and First Aid in an emergency situation and completes annual blood borne pathogen training.
Maintains or gains the knowledge of swim lessons and ability to teach.
Performs general pool maintenance.
Attends mandatory in-service training and staff meetings.
Maintains a clean facility.
Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a current Ellis & Associate Lifeguard License or American Red Cross lifeguard certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and standard First Aid. Must pass pre-employment practical skills test as well as a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina and flexibility to move or carry up to 50 pounds, stand, crouch, kneel, bend and stoop while assisting children and adults for extended periods of time. The candidate must have adequate hearing and vision in order to discriminate between different sounds, objects, people and colors at near and far distances.
