DEFINITION
Be an integral part of the Brighton Recreation Center team, overseeing a spectrum of operations from managing the front desk to ensuring the safety and functionality of the entire facility. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Lead and mentor a dynamic team of Recreation Specialists while overseeing contract, temporary, or volunteer staff. Become the go-to expert in training and supporting other departments and their new hires, ensuring seamless activity and pass management, dissemination of brochure information, and facilitating onboarding and orientation processes. Under the general guidance of the Recreation Supervisor for Operations, take charge and make an impact!
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Supervises or coordinates activities of assigned staff, including customer service, custodial, rental, and building monitoring; this can include scheduling workload, shifts and filling in when short-staffed.
Manages front desk operations, directing individuals to proper locations, providing information, collecting fees, facilitating registrations, making reservations, and in general, assisting the public.
Establishes priorities, schedules, and methods for assigned tasks and activities. Recruits, trains, and evaluates performance of staff.
Evaluates operations and activities of the Recreation Center; develops and implements new policies and procedures as needed.
Participates in budget preparation and administration; monitors and controls facility expenditures.
Plans and implements Capital Improvement Projects.
Maintains current awareness of new developments in recreation facility management.
Maintains the activity, pass, rental and facility databases in the Recreation software system.
Acts as the liaison between the Recreation Center front line staff and the Information Technology department full time recreation employees.
Coordinates with various departments regarding park availability and scheduling during Park Shelter Season.
Assists in maintaining various records such as inventory, activity reports, receipts, memberships, reservations, and minor financial accounts.
Maintains a variety of daily and monthly records and reports.
Manages incident reports and other documentation for the Rec Center and Brighton Oasis.
Assists with the marketing of recreation programs and events.
Communicates with other Recreation Center leadership to ensure policies are being followed and all customer service representatives are following procedures.
Completes additional training to make the front desk area more efficient.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Modern practices, procedures and equipment used in designated work areas.
Current principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
Business English, grammar, punctuation, spelling and math.
City and departmental policies, programs, and activities.
Recreation management software is desired; familiarity with Amilia software preferred.
Ability to:
Apply typing skills to produce materials as required.
Maintain confidential information.
Work a flexible schedule when required.
Work in a high traffic, customer service environment.
Handle money accurately, conscientiously, and honestly.
Make simple mathematical computations and maintain moderately complex records diligently and accurately.
Understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
Participate in long-range and strategic planning of recreation services and programs.
Assess and understand community needs in a variety of recreation areas and evaluate activities according to those needs.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of city and other governmental officials, community groups, participants and the public. Operate standard office equipment like a copier, fax machine, and telephone.
Use a personal computer and associated software including Google and Microsoft Office suite.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in leisure time administration, athletics, public administration, business administration or a related field highly desired.
At least two (2) years' relevant experience, preferably with a municipal recreation center, with some supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and manipulate equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Distance vision.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Current CPR and first aid certifications are required.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred.
Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record.
Ability to complete FEMA ICS 100 and IS 700 training within six (6) months of hire.
