This position reports to the City Engineer and assists in the planning, design, and inspection of engineering and construction projects in the City with particular emphasis on transportation and infrastructure.
Duties include, but not limited to, assisting the City Engineer with permits and inspections for City applicants to work in Right-of-Ways and performing construction inspection and measurements. Coordinates work with other agencies and City departments. Researches deeds, land information, or zoning to assist with permits. Prepares technical reports and data for grants or highway funding.
Successful applicants will have:
- Knowledge of engineering principles as applied to the development of City construction projects
- Ability to plan work, performs computations and prepare designs, estimates and specifications
- Skill in the use of civil engineering instruments and equipment including computers, computer aided design, GIS programs and surveying equipment.
Associate’s degree in applied sciences with three to four years of related technical experience in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have the following certifications or have the ability to obtain them within one year of start date:
- ESC Inspector Certification
- Work Zone and Traffic Control Certification
