FIREFIGHTER TESTING ANNOUNCEMENT

The City of Bristol is accepting applications for Firefighter testing to establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies.  Initial testing requires possession of a CPAT Certificate (physical ability test), and successful completion of a written  and oral examination. Additionally, a medical exam including a workfit assessment and drug screen, and

background investigation are required prior to hire. Written Exam details to follow after the application deadline . NOTE : To gain entrance to the Written Exam scheduled for the June 21, 2025, you are required to present an original CPAT CERT (with seal) issued on or after June 1, 2024 .

SALARY : $68,747 / yr. upon hire. (Pay rates effective 07-01-25.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT TIME OF APPLICATION :

Must be 18 yrs of age High School Diploma / GED Valid Driver License

RESIDENCY POINTS : 5 points will be added to the final passing score (maximum score = 100 points) for eligible  residents. Must be domiciled in the City of Bristol as of the closing date for applications, March 7, 2025; AND  must maintain residency throughout the testing process.

Print out the Firefighter Residency Request Form , complete & submit the form with required documents via postal mail to City of Bristol Human Resources Dept., 111 North Main St., Bristol, CT 06010 postmarked by  March 7, 2025 , OR bring the completed paperwork to Human Resources Room 313 by 1 : 30 p.m. on March 7,  2025 .

VETERANS POINTS : 5 points will be added to a final passing score (maximum score = 100 points) for veterans  who have completed a minimum of 90 days of active military service, in a non-training status , with an honorable  discharge or a discharge under honorable conditions. Copy of Form DD-214 Member-4 must be submitted in  person at the oral exam test . Failure to provide adequate paperwork by the oral test date will forfeit your  eligibility to receive veteran’s points. See Firefighter Testing Summary for details.

DEADLINE FOR BRISTOL FIREFIGHTER APPLICATION : MARCH 7, 2025

• Must complete Bristol Firefighter Application online at www.bristolct.gov

CPAT Certificate (Candidate Physical Ability Test) is required & presented at the written test date. Bristol requires  a CPAT CERT be issued on or after June 1, 2024 .

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR 5 Day Program CPAT TESTING : MARCH 12, 2025 (Registration deadline for Special Sessions : Refer to CPAT website.)
