Under general supervision, assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the city's streets and stormwater system.
- This position performs duties deemed to be safety-sensitive and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City's policies
- Installs proper warning devices at work sites.
- Measures, assembles, and sets forms for concrete; pours and finishes concrete.
- Repairs and builds storm drain boxes and pipes.
- Purchases, picks up, and delivers materials to work sites.
- Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Cleans clogged storm drains.
- Removes dead animals from the road.
- Transports heavy equipment to and from job sites.
- Operates a snow plow.
- Lays stormwater pipe.
- Operates an excavator, backhoe, and front-end loader.
- Repairs traffic control devices; designs, fabricates, and installs street signs.
- Completes daily reports on duties performed.
- Sprays pesticides for mosquito control.
- Operates a patch truck and repairs pot holes and leaking pipes.
- Repairs manhole lids.
- Removes trees and cleans storm damage.
- Loads and unloads trucks by hand or with equipment.
- Mows grass, lays sod and operates a weed eater.
- Responsible for pesticide analysis and adverse incident inspection (A.I.I)
- Assists with closing roads in high water.
- Performs routine maintenance on trucks and equipment.
- Provides traffic control devices for City emergencies, special events and other departments.
- Sets traffic counts Citywide.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A CDL Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 150 pounds). Must submit to a drug screening and fitness to work physical.
