FLSA Status: Exempt
Under general supervision, performs professional planning duties.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
- Assists the public with inquiries and requests for information regarding the planning process, code standards, and practice design issues.
- Prepares reports for the City Council, Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
- Reviews, analyzes and processes development permits, plans, maps and related documents to completion, recommending changes as needed.
- Prepares and reviews a variety of written plans, studies, staff reports and Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan amendments.
- Conducts site visits.
- Answers questions from consultants, developers, engineers, planners, landscape architects, and the general public.
- Reviews reports and consults with department staff on project review issues.
- Serves as department representative and liaison at committee and commission meetings and other related events, when needed.
- Completes special studies.
- Assists in the research and development of City planning policies and procedures, as required.
- Gives presentations to committees, commissions and the general public.
- Attends meetings, classes and conferences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, feeling, handling, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Salary : $63,145 - $82,089
