This position is responsible for managing the staff and facilities of all the City's swimming pools.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
- Participates in hiring process, recruits and orients staff; prepares work schedules for staff; conducts periodic staff meetings and coordinates, demonstrates, and participates in in-service training; performs staff evaluations and takes corrective actions when needed; ensures the accuracy of staff time and payroll attendance
- Maintains an accessible presence at swimming pool sites; receives complaints from staff and patrons; responds to patron complaints within 24 hours; reports critical issues raised by staff or patrons and any actions taken to resolve such issues; maintains a log of all issues and accidents that occur involving staff or patrons
- Recognizes emergencies and responds quickly and effectively to those emergencies
- Ensures compliance with all state laws, city and county ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations regarding the health and safety of patrons; ensures compliance with local, state and federal health and safety codes and regulatory laws regarding sanitation and the condition of the facility; enforces all swimming pool facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Ensures that swimming pool maintenance is documented, reported, and resolved
- Completes records and reports in a professional manner
- Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
- Possession of current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (or equivalent)
- Possession of current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (or equivalent)
- Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment a Tulsa City-County Health Department Swimming Pool Operators permit
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
