Under general supervision, performs electrical troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of the wastewater plant and assigned related facilities.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
- Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, installs, calibrates and performs preventative maintenance on plant and lift station controls, instrumentation and power equipment (such as programmable logic controllers, relays, process meters and monitors, transmitters, control loops and ladder logic, lab instruments, motor operated valves, pneumatic operated valves, variable speed drives, motor, starters, motor control centers, lighting, and heat trace systems).
- Repairs, calibrates and performs preventive maintenance on various metering, transmitting, and related electrical and electronic equipment.
- Installs, troubleshoots and maintains programmable logic controllers and related communications systems including SCADA systems.
- Configures setup, calibrates, and tunes controls, instrumentation, and systems.
- Reviews and updates plant controls, instrumentation, and electrical drawings.
- Troubleshoots and repairs 120/240, 220/277 and 480-volt electrical and motor control centers.
- Troubleshoots and repairs DC voltage controls.
- Installs new equipment and programs as required.
- Maintains detailed records of all repairs, calibration and maintenance activities completed.
- Monitors all electrical equipment for performance and preventive maintenance.
- Participates in the planning process for capital improvement plans or programs.
- Participates in the planning process for new electrical technology systems, electrical control systems and process controls.
- Recommends ways to improve plant and facilities performance.
- Assists operations and maintenance staff as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in medium work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, and crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, or walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (up to 50 pounds).
