What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARKS LABORER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES (SUMMER-SEASONAL POSITIONS) position at City of Brookfield?
PURPOSE: The Seasonal Laborer performs day-to-day maintenance and improvement of grounds, facilities and services associated with the mission of the Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry. The incumbents of these positions work up to 40 hour work weeks. Actual work time is dependent on the weather and staffing needs of the City. Employment is at-will, and may be terminated at any time by the City. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain park grounds, collect and dispose of litter and refuse, mow and trim grass, rake and remove leaves and brush, general landscape and horticultural work.
- Maintenance and preparation of ball diamonds to include daily safety inspections, dragging, lining, raking, watering, and refuse removal.
- Clean park buildings, shelters, restrooms, and picnic areas.
- Landscape maintenance/construction.
- Operate various pieces of motorized equipment and tools related to assigned duties.
- Painting and staining.
- Perform other related park maintenance tasks and functions, and support services for recreation programs, as required and assigned.
- Age 18 preferred.*
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to work 7:00 am -3:30 pm.**
* Modified work assignments for applicants under age 18.
** Some evening, weekend, holiday, and/or overtime hours will be required.
*** Available to work 10-12 weeks between approximately mid-May through August. Start dates vary based on school schedules.
2025 SALARY: Pay Range 325: $15.54 - $22.70 per hour.*
Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry anticipates filling multiple vacancies for the 2025 season.
*Starting rate for applicants under age 18 is $13.02 per hour due to modified work assignments.
