General Statement of Duties
Under the general supervision of the Street Manager and the direct supervision of the Street Supervisor the Street Maintenance Technician, is responsible for performing manual and semi-skilled tasks to include street repair and maintenance, mosquito and/or weed control, operation of light equipment related to street maintenance and snow removal.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience in snow removal, road repair, painting/line striping and construction preferred.
- Acceptable driving record. Possession of a valid South Dakota Class 1 Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a South Dakota Commercial Driver’s license Class B one within 1 year.
- Possession of or the ability to complete required certifications that may include: Flagger, MSHA, within 1 year.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and be available after hours, weekends, and/or holidays as deemed necessary by Street Manager/Street Supervisor and in emergency situations.
- Position requires employee to be on-call and work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as requested.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain municipal streets and rights-of-way in safe condition. Perform various duties in regards to repairs, maintenance, and equipment operation.
- Ability to effectively work in traffic safely in the repair of City streets.
- Operate and perform minor repairs to a variety of equipment including but not limited to - trucks, trailers, ATV/UTV, street sweeper and Skid steers all used in the repair of City streets.
- Drive truck to haul equipment, crew, snow, gravel, and various other materials to work site.
- Operate equipment of small capacity such as hand tools, power tools and a pressure washer
- Repair City streets and bridges to include loading and unloading materials, shoveling asphalt, crack filling, and picking up litter as needed.
- Perform Traffic control functions including, painting, sign installation, thermoplastic installation and line striping.
- Attend training, seminars, and workshops as deemed necessary.
- Perform work in accordance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Assist other City departments as directed and/or deemed necessary.
- Perform other such duties and functions as assigned and/or deemed necessary.
