Maintenance Worker - Recreation & Parks

The Recreation & Parks Department is currently recruiting applicants to fill temporary/seasonal positions up to 40 hours a week to assist in the day-to-day maintenance of Edinburgh USA Golf, Brookland Golf Park, and Community Activity Center (CAC). Opportunities are available at a variety of skills and levels from unskilled to skilled laborers. Â

Payrates

• If age 17 and no driver's license, pay is $14.91/hour. Â Â
• If age 17 with driver's license, pay is $15.36/hour. Â
• If age 18 and no driver's license, pay is $15.91-$20.16/hour.Â
• If age 18 with drivers license, pay is $16.88-$21.53
  
  

All Seasonal Recreation & Parks Positions

• Perform general cleaning as well as general maintenance Â
• Promote harmonious relations with fellow employees, divisions, departments and with the public
• Perform and assist with any Recreation & Parks related duties
• Operate vehicles and/or small equipment (if age 17 or do not have a driver's license, may operate small equipment only e.g., weed whipper)Â
  
  

Edinburgh USA Golf and Brookland Golf

• Operate weed whips
• Operate push mowers
• Operate riding lawn mowersÂ
• Change tee markers and pin placements
• Clean restrooms
• Mechanical and hand rake bunkers
• Wash and park golf cars
• Fill divots on tees and fairways
• Other tasks assigned by supervisor
  
  

Edinburgh Clubhouse (Event Center)

• Set-up and tear-down of rooms for facility events and activities
• Light janitorial duties
• Other tasks as assigned
  
  

Community Activity Center

• Operate ice re-surfacing machine
• Sharpen skates for customers
• Perform general cleaning as well as general maintenance of facility and grounds maintenance
• Set-up and tear-down of rooms for facility events and activities
• Prepare racquetball courts for use
• Enforce safety rules and regulations that ensures the facility operates in a safe manner
  
  

Education

 High school graduateÂ

Experience

• 17 years of age (may operate small equipment only)Â
• 18 years of age or olderÂ
  
  

Licenses/Certifications

Valid driver's license (required to operate vehicles) Â

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience operating small equipment
• Previous park and/or building maintenance experience
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
• Previous maintenance work experience
• Previous cleaning/janitorial work experience
• Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds
• Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali or Laotian, Vietnamese language(s)
  
  

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 10Â to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing.Â
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, possibly hazardous
• Work is performed in various conditions, indoors temperature controlled 40-50 degrees and outdoor in various weather conditions.

Work shifts are from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Â Some weekends from 5:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. * Community Activity Center (5600 85th Avenue North):Â Â

Work shifts are flexible. * Edinburgh Clubhouse ( 8700 Edinbrook Crossing):

Work shifts are flexible and include evenings and weekends.

Anticipated Hiring Wage: $15.91 - $21.53 hourly, depending on qualifications and team equityÂ
