Pay: $3,124 per month / $18.02 per hour
Post-Probation Pay: $3,218 per month / $18.56 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Stop vehicles at scale house, weighs vehicles before and after unloading, collect fees, perform necessary clerical work to provide reports as directed on a timely basis. Directs vehicles to proper unloading areas requiring persons to segregate waste material accordingly. Compiles information for reports. Keeps area at scale house in neat appearance, provides administrative support to the Recycling Center. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood “I SERVE” Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
1) Stops incoming vehicles to provide data for billing; 2) Provides receipts and collect fees; 3) Records necessary information required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for reports; 4) Provide documentation for special use haulers, including verifying the manifest to be complete, verifying the load, and directing that specific traffic; 5) Documentation of acceptance of approved special waste; 6) Completes and submits paperwork, reports, workorders, requisitions, quotes sheets and other forms as necessary or assigned; 7) Directs traffic to proper locations to unload material, such as tires, garbage, rock, special waste or recyclables, requiring persons to segregate material; 8) Compiles information for quarterly and annual reports required by TCEQ; 9) Handles paperwork and moneys from the Recycling Center; 10) Provides administrative support and guidance for Recycling Center; 13) Performs general housekeeping of scale house office building; 14) Collect waste samples and conduct testing and enter information on related reports; 15) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Indirectly – as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Indoors and outdoors; unpleasant work in adverse weather, odors and dirty conditions. Moderate physical activity. Ability to sit, stand, and move about an office or building. Employee occasionally lifts materials weighing approximately 20 to 30 pounds or climbs in order to reach cabinets. Ability to bend and squat in order to file or retrieve information. May be exposed to electrical, mechanical or chemical hazards when operating or maintaining office equipment. Ability to see and handle small objects. Employee will occasionally work in extreme temperatures, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing and lifting in order to perform duties. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of clerical reports and handling of monies. Proficient in computer skills; knowledge of Word & Excel programs. Ability to deal with the public in a congenial manner at all times.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Obtain a TCEQ Waste Screening Certification within two years from date of employment; Obtain a TCEQ Class A Solid Waste Certification within five years from date of employment.
