Pay: $2,805 per month / $16.18 per hour
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Tech (Properties & Facilities)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time position. This person is responsible for the receiving and prioritizing property maintenance work orders and accomplishing the work using, operating, and maintaining equipment required to perform routine grounds maintenance. Must be able to skillfully operate tractor with mower and other related equipment. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood “I SERVE” Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
1) Operate tractor with mower attachments; 2) Operate power mower, trimmers, DR brush mower, chain saw and weed eater when required; 3) Perform routine grounds maintenance, including cutting grass, trimming hedges and trees, planting grass, watering, filling holes, picking up litter and other debris; 4) Perform preventative maintenance on equipment; 5) Assist in the general clean-up of all areas of the city, including City properties as directed by the Supervisor; 6) Assist in repairs of fences, gates and securing vacant structures including painting; 7) Operates welder and cutting torch; 8) Assist Code Officials by delivering and posting notices, taking pictures, etc.; 9) Assess, document and report non-compliant properties observed while performing other duties; 10) Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
Occasionally directing Community Service Workers, volunteers, and other temporary seasonal workers.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Works outside: In cases of emergency, may be required to work nights and weekends. Occasional overtime hours required. Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently, and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push broom, sweep, and dig. Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain. Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors.

Frequent contact with other city employees and occasional contact with the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or G.E.D is a plus but is not required. Prefer one year of related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of operating light equipment and performing preventative maintenance; ability to use good judgment within reasonable guidelines; ability to perform manual labor; ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and to communicate in writing and verbally with the public; ability to operate tractor with mower and other related equipment necessary to maintain grounds.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
