Job Summary
Operates and maintains a City of Bryan wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift including weekends, holidays, and a rotating standby schedule to ensure the effective processing of wastewater and the plant is operating in accordance with regulatory authority outlined in the site’s Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ( TCEQ ) permit.

Operates and maintains a City of Bryan wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift including weekends, holidays, and a rotating standby schedule to ensure the effective processing of wastewater and the plant is operating in accordance with regulatory authority outlined in the site’s Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ( TCEQ ) permit.
Essential Job Functions
- Takes samples, tests, and records results and ensures plant is operating within TCEQ permit guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining log book.
- Keeps plant equipment in operable condition; ensures equipment has proper preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Ensures SCADA system is operating properly.
- Cleans plant infrastructure as needed.
- Schedules pickup for sludge.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
- High School Diploma/ GED .
- At least two (2) years of work experience in a plant environment, preferably in a wastewater treatment plant OR work experience performing semi-skilled and/or skilled manual labor that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements
- Must possess a Class C driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must possess a Class D Wastewater license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months of employment. A Class C Wastewater license must be obtained within the timeframe set by the department.
- Must successfully pass an annual pulmonary function test and respirator fit test to determine ability to function while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus ( SCBA ) during emergency operations.
- Must submit to a TB test during employment as required. (Note: An initial TB test will be required during the post-offer physical examination. A negative test result must be received in order to be considered for employment.)
