Job Summary:
The City of Buffalo is seeking a skilled General Mechanic to perform miscellaneous work involving two or more recognized trades. The successful candidate will have experience in one or more skilled building trades and possess a current New York State Driver's License.
Duties:
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as performing minor plastering, painting, and masonry repairs. Additionally, the General Mechanic may be required to install and repair locks, drive to and from work sites, and maintain mobile warehouse equipment.
Requirements:
To be eligible for this position, applicants must have at least one year of continuous permanent status as a Maintenance Assistant or Laborer in the competitive class, or two years of experience in one of the skilled building trades. For open competitive candidates, graduation from a vocational/technical high school in one of the skilled building trades and one year of experience in the trade are required. A current New York State Driver's License is also mandatory.
