Job Overview
The City of Buffalo, NY is seeking a skilled trades professional to fill the role of General Mechanic. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to mechanical trades.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $53,444.00 to $59,382.00 annually. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and vision insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and more.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs repairs to plumbing and steam lines, electrical systems, and machinery.
- Installs shelving, storage cabinets, and new hardware.
- Services and repairs overhead doors, including replacing torsion springs, stretch springs, cables, pulleys, tracks, and panels.
- Performs minor plastering repairs and masonry repairs, including glass block replacements.
- May be required to drive to and from work sites.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of full-time experience in one of the skilled building trades, including carpentry, caulking, electrical, glazier, masonry, mechanical, painting, plastering, or plumbing.
- A current New York State Driver's License.
