STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, or industrial building structures and installations in various states of alteration, construction, and repair; to determine that construction, alterations, and repairs are in compliance with City ordinances and adopted International Code Council building codes
NOTE : First application review will take place 2 weeks after the posting date, additional applications will only be reviewed if necessary to obtain a sufficient applicant pool.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE / LICENSING & TRAINING
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years experience in residential or commercial construction inspection for a municipality; and / or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Applicants with existing and additional I.C.C. certifications for items such as building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing will be given preference
LICENSING & TRAINING :
- Valid State Driver's License
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) training based on assignment.
- I.C.C. Residential Building Inspector certification within 6 months of employment.
- Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Eye-hand coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls with hands and arms; lift arms above shoulder level; work in small cramped areas; work at heights greater than 10 feet; and walk over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, perceive the full range of color spectrum; peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and / or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the field.
Sworn Police Officers participate in the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS). Contribution rates are determined by State Legislature
