STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The position may consist of working in the capacity as a Lifeguard performing duties associated with the City's Recreation Program. Position protects the life and well being of each person using the aquatic facility and practices preventative life guarding, be familiar with areas of concern, and minimize dangers. Public Relations is a major part of this position's responsibilities. This is a part time position with no guaranteed number of work hours and consists of a 29-hour work week maximum.
- Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age or older .

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE / LICENSING & TRAINING
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or GED required unless currently enrolled in an accredited school with six months experience in a recreational program or any combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Prefer experience associated with recreational activities, rules and regulations, and programs of the City's Recreation Program and dealing with all ages of the general public.
LICENSING & TRAINING :
Lifeguard positions require candidates to undergo specialized assessment skills testing. Applicants must hold or be able to obtain certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Training.
For those applicants not currently certified, the Recreation Division will contact applicants to provide a Parent / Legal Guardian Consent form, which must be completed by the minor / participant's parent or legal guardian. Additionally, applicants must successfully complete the Recreation Division's in-house Lifeguard Training Courses and accompanying test(s).
Please note that applicants who do not meet the listed requirements will not be eligible for an interview.
