What are the responsibilities and job description for the YOUTH SERVICES WORKER - STEP PROGRAM position at City of Burbank?
STEP SESSION IS FROM JUNE-AUGUST
The STEP program is for students ages 14-15.Under close supervision, to learn and perform a wide variety of office and field maintenance work; and to do related work as required.
Learn and apply progressively higher skills and independent performance of a variety of trades and careers, including parks and landscape maintenance, public works maintenance, recreation and technical fields, office services, library services, and safety services through on-the-job instruction and training.
Employment Standards:
Skill in translating knowledge learned to on-the-job performance of assigned tasks; interacting and communicating tactfully and effectively with a culturally diverse population; discerning potentially dangerous situations; making independent judgments and decisions based upon standard policy or procedures appropriate to the level of training and instruction received.
Ability to learn, comprehend, and apply on-the-job instructions; follow directions; safely operate motor vehicle with appropriate DMV licenses; read, write, and communicate at an appropriate level; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public; perform essential functions.
Education/Training: At least fourteen (14) years of age.
Licenses & Certificates: A valid work permit at time of appointment.
A valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent may be required at time of appointment, if employee is sixteen (16) years of age or older.
