What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader position at City of Burnsville (MN)?
As a Recreation Leader, you'll collaborate to plan and implement age-appropriate weekly arts and crafts, games, and activities for children ages 5 to 13. Scheduled work hours will be at various park locations. Leaders will assist co-leaders in creating themed events to engage participants. Staff will ensure a safe environment for participants at all times and will also attend and participate in staff trainings and meetings. Position dates for all programs are June 16 – August 14, 2025. Our Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department is a team of talented individuals dedicated to providing access to facilities, maintaining parks and trails, and running recreation programs and events that matter to our community.

Programs that Recreation Leaders will be involved with include:
Camp Explore: Camp Explore is an all-day structured summer camp program for children between the ages of 5 and 8. This program includes weekly themes of sports, nature, arts and more! This program takes place from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday – Thursday. Dates of program: June 16 – August 14.
Playground Pros: Playground Pros is an all-day structured summer camp program for children between the ages of 9 and 13. This program includes weekly themes of sports, nature, arts and more! Activities will be geared to older aged children. This program takes place from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday. Dates of program: June 16 – August 14.
Pop-Up Park: Recreation Leaders will be bringing games/activities to various neighborhood and community parks throughout Burnsville. This program takes place on select Friday mornings throughout the summer from 10:00am – Noon.
Additional Program Opportunities: Recreation Leaders will also have the opportunity to help out at various city-wide special events and youth specialty camps throughout the summer.Salary : $13 - $15
