Description
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist.
Schedule : Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.
Example of Duties
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to :
- Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;
- Prepares and implements work-outs;
- Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
- Maintains various records;
- Organizes and attends swim meets;
- Evaluates stroke technique;
- Assists with budget preparation;
Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.
In addition, the essential functions of employment include :
Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.
Qualifications
Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
Valid California Driver's license.
Current CPR certification.
Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
TB Clearance.
Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.
Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring :
Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.

SELECTION PROCESS
The most qualified applicants as determined by initial screening of applications will be invited to participate in an interview and lifeguard skills practical testing. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews and skills testing. Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
