What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader I/II/III (Day Camp - Part Time) position at City of Campbell?
The City of Campbell's Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals who enjoy working with children and teens for our Recreation Leader I, II, III positions!
Location: John D. Morgan Park and/or Campbell Community CenterSCHEDULE
Staff Training: June 9 - June 12 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Camp Dates and Hours: June 16 - August 8 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (Tentative)
SALARY
All positions are part-time, temporary non-benefited positions. The pay rate will be dependent on qualifications and experience and is as follows:
- Recreation Leader I (High School) - $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
- Recreation Leader II - $17.50 - $19.50 per hour
- Recreation Leader III - $19.50 - $21.50 per hour
- Recreation Leader I: Experience working with children or teens in a recreational setting is desired, but not required.
- Recreation Leader II: 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a recreational setting is desired but not required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Recreation Leader III: 2 or more years of experience working with youth in a day camp setting or similar program is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Qualifications:
- The minimum age at the start date of the assignment is 16 years.
- Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
- Work permit required if under 18 and still in high school.

The most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews. Final selection is contingent upon a pre-employment criminal history records check and the ability to provide verification of authorization to work in the United States.

- How do I fill out the application?

- Instead of submitting a cover letter, please answer the supplemental questions about why you would be an excellent Recreation Leader and your experience working with children.
- What is the summer season work commitment?
- In-service training is required for all new hires (6/9-6/13). Recreation Leaders need to be available to work a minimum of 6 weeks during the camp season (6/16 to 8/8). You can also apply to be an on-call substitute if you have prior experience working day camp or a similar program.

- Should I bring a letter of recommendation to the interview?
- We will require two letters of recommendation. Reference calls can be in lieu of Letters of Recommendation. Recommendations should come from a teacher, coach, church leader, or mentor (not a family member) who can provide comments on your work experience and/or leadership skills.
