$10.45 to $18.00 per hour. The rate may increase under certain situations.
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment within the facility. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, minor maintenance duties, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and functionality of the community center.

Shift
This is a part-time and/or seasonal position with variable daily work hours. Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 12:00pm
Distinguishing Features of the Class
This position is available in the Recreation Department.
This position shall require physical work for cleaning, maintenance and collaboration. Therefore, employees in this class must be in good physical condition. Repetitive work is expected to be performed. Duties must be performed efficiently.
Examples of Work
Cleaning duties: Perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in all areas of the community center. Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchen areas, and common spaces. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Maintenance Tasks: Conduct routine inspections to identify and address maintenance issues promptly. Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and repairing furniture. Report major maintenance needs to the Community Center Manager.
Facility Upkeep: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and ensure all necessary materials are readily available. Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Community Center Manager.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other staff members to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for community center visitors. Assist with room setup and breakdown for various events and activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness. Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods. Able to lift heavy articles. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum detail. Must possess adequate communication skills and deal tactfully with citizens of the public. Provide friendly and helpful assistance to community center visitors as needed.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work preferred.
