Job Summary:
The Director of Business and Community Development is responsible for the overall development, supervision, and evaluation of the Canyon Economic Development Corporation (CEDC). The position will be responsible for reporting to the CEDC board.
Supervisory Role: This position will supervise CEDC staff
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to work in the United Stated of America
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of CEDC activities
- Ensure proper maintenance of CEDC records
- Ensure appropriate retention of all CEDC documents and records
- Ensuring CEDC compliance with Texas Open Meetings Act
- Provide support to members of the CEDC board
- Plan and implement the educational activities for the CEDC Board
- Plan, develop, and implement the CEDC Annual Budget
- Provide regular reports to the City of Canyon Commission
- Initiation of contact with target prospects and coordination of site visits
- Provide information about CEDC activities via presentations, calls, and meetings

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or another related field is highly recommended. At least 3 years of experience in the economic development field is recommended. Completion of training provided by the Texas Department of Economic Development or another equivalent agency is recommended.
Work Environment: The majority of work is performed in an office setting completing administrative duties for the CEDC. There are times the position will require work to be completed in an outdoor environment with exposure to inclement weather. Exposure to communicable disease/bloodborne pathogens while executing duties related to this position is considered minimal.
Physical Demands: The majority of work is performed at a desk completing administrative tasks using a personal computer and other office equipment. The position will require frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and fingers. The position will also require occasional bending stooping, reaching, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
