Education and Experience
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Programming or a related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in network hardware and infrastructure, programming and troubleshooting.
Licenses or Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
- Must possess FDEP Water or Wastewater Plant Operator certification, depending on assigned facility, (minimum of C level license) or obtain within two (2) years of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Operates, maintains and updates the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other networking, telecommunication and telemetry equipment and infrastructure necessary to run/control the plants in the City's utilities infrastructure system and transmit plant information from field devices to servers and workstations.
- Collects and reviews accuracy of plant computer data required to prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
- Tests, writes, configures and implements new applications of purchased software and system programs. Translates software programs when necessary.
- Maintains network, telecommunication and telemetry equipment/hardware responsible for transmitting/storing plant information to ensure efficiency and security of data.
