Description
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with Carson City Health & Human Ser vices. Under general supervision, conduct routine inspections of public facilities in order to ensure compliance with City and Nevada state laws and regulations governing Environmental Health and Safety; to protect the public against disease, sickness, illness and / or injury; to investigate environmental health related epidemiological complaints.
Environmental Health Specialist 2 : ( Employer-Paid PERS) $33.2527 - $46.5538 hourly / $69,165.72 - $96,831.80 annually
Employee / Employer-Paid PERS) $39.4637 - $55,2492 hourly / $82,084.60 - $114,918.44 annually

This is a grant-funded position and, as such, employees are responsible for knowing abiding by the rules of the grant. This position will continue to be funded as long as the grant is renewed.

Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental health, epidemiology, public health, geology, sanitary engineering or environmental engineering, from an institution of higher education approved by the Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists (BoREHS); OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Under General Supervision - Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and / or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.
