What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at City of Casa Grande?
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under close supervision, performs semi-skilled general labor in the maintenance, construction, repair and upkeep of roadways, concrete, curbing, facilities, buildings, parks, recreation fields and landscaped areas.
Note: This position is currently in our Streets Division; however, this recruitment may also be used to fill other vacancies within the Public Works Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- When assigned to public works, assists in the repair and maintenance of streets, roadways, concrete, curbing, sidewalks, barricades, medians and right of ways; learns to repair or replace asphalt, potholes, and surfaces using a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- When assigned to parks, duties may include, but are not limited to mowing, landscaping, and assisting in the maintenance of irrigation systems, athletic fields, aquatics facilities, trails, playground equipment; installs and maintains turf, trees, shrubs and other landscaping materials.
- When assigned to sanitation, participates in the collection of waste from containers on assigned routes; collects and loads containers, bulk items, and heavy waste materials; cleans and replaces refuse containers; assists customers with questions.
- When assigned to facilities, assists in the maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems; installs or replaces wiring, lamps, light receptacles; performs minor repairs to toilets, sinks, drains, drinking fountains; assists in the completion work orders.
- Performs skilled and semiskilled construction, maintenance and manual labor work.
- Performs routine building and roadway maintenance and custodial duties; picks up debris, paints facilities, structures and equipment, and makes minor maintenance repairs.
- Operates power tools, maintenance equipment, and various other tools.
- Learns to operate a computer or other device as necessary to perform job duties.
- Responds to emergency situations if required including motor vehicle accidents, spills, debris.
- Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Completes required daily logs and reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.High School diploma or GED equivalent, and one (1) year related work experience.Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and equipment repair methods and materials.
- Skill in safe operation of equipment according to standard safety procedures.
- Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
- Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License may be required for certain positions. Possession of pesticide/herbicide applicators license may also be required for certain positions.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors and in Parks, Public Works, and City facilities including in roadways and areas of high motor vehicle traffic.
