GENERAL PURPOSE: Under close supervision, assists participants in the activities of a City recreation program.
Please note that the department is looking to fill multiple positions, below is a brief description of the duties in each area.
Recreation Aide – Youth and Adult: The aide will oversee gameday operations for youth, adult leagues, pickleball program, recreation facilities, and other activities as the Recreation Coordinator assigns. The position is Monday – Friday, with a flex schedule on weeks with Saturday youth games. Daily work hours will vary based on scheduled activities.
Recreation Aide – Community Recreation Center: The aide will assist with overseeing the front desk, facility operations, membership agreements, permit changes, and rentals during scheduled hours. The position is Monday – Friday 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Recreation Aide – Aquatics, Events, and Marketing: The aide will assist with the aquatic operations at the Palm Island Family Aquatic Center, events, and marketing. The position is Monday – Friday, except when weekend events are scheduled, from October to April, and a varying schedule from May - September.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervises activities for recreation facilities and programs; plans events and activities, as directed by Recreation Program Coordinator.
- Coordinates and organizes activities and special events for a City recreation program; programs include special adult’s and children’s programs and facilities, recreation facilities, special events, youth activities and sports programs.
- Supervises program and facility guests, and enforces rules.
- Assists participants in various recreation facilities and programs; sets up and takes down equipment for activities and events; supervises and coaches participants as directed.
- Maintains equipment and facilities in clean and safe condition.
- Maintains event calendars
- Communicates with general public and others in order to coordinate program activities, special events and utilization of facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent, and one (1) year of customer service experience.
Special Requirements: First Aid and CPR certifications required within six months of hire.

- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of persons using municipal recreational facilities, programs and equipment.
- Knowledge of equipment used in recreational and sports programs.
- Knowledge of proper materials and procedures used for cleaning.
- Skill in interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with people.
- Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
