Job Summary
The City of Catoosa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to oversee the financial management, investment strategies, and fiscal policies of the city. This position ensures effective collection, safeguarding, and disbursement of public funds while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Finance Director provides financial guidance to city officials and supports sound fiscal decision-making to enhance the city's financial stability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
- Manage the city's revenue collection, including taxes, fees, and other sources of income.
- Oversee the preparation and administration of the city's budget in coordination with other departments.
- Monitor financial transactions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the investment of city funds to maximize returns while minimizing risks.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations to city officials, the mayor, and the city council.
- Ensure proper accounting, auditing, and financial controls are in place.
- Coordinate with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of government accounting standards, public finance laws, and investment strategies.
- Proficiency in financial management software (Incode) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, staff, and the public.
