We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our team this summer as a Summer Camp Counselor.
The purpose of the Summer Camp Counselor is to assist in the supervision and / or participate in the daily camp activities with the day camp participants while providing a safe, fun, and clean atmosphere for the activities. The Summer Camp Counselor has direct responsibility for the day camp participants, including administering activities and managing participant behavior while they are in camp care. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
This is a temporary / seasonal position, expected to work 40 hours per week. Shifts may vary between the hours of 7 : 00 a.m. - 6 : 00 p.m. during the camp week.
How You Add Value
- Provides premier customer service to camp participants and parents by actively and safely supervising all activities in the summer camp to ensure safety is a priority, responding to requests for information and resolving complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Performs minor first aid assistance to program participants, as needed.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing with the participants, parents of participants, supervisor, department heads, City employees, employee teams and the City's customers.
- Assists in the marketing and implementation of summer camp.
- Participates in daily camp activities and weekly trips including swimming, hiking, sporting games, and other summer children's activities scheduled throughout camp.
- Evaluates camp daily and suggests improvements, needs, and hazards to supervisor.
- Assists with set-up and clean-up of camp events and programming.
- Promotes safe work practices and ensures compliance with City safety policies.
- Performs light janitorial duties, as required.
- Regular attendance required throughout all of camp; no vacations.
