The purpose of this position is to assist the Recreation Coordinator in the supervision of all aspects of the pool. In addition to functioning as a lifeguard and water safety instructor the Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for the on-site supervision of staff, and the entire operation of the aquatic facility when the Recreation Coordinator is not present. Duties can include, but are not limited to: supervising assigned pool personnel; enforcing all rules and regulations; plan, organize, coordinate, schedule and direct the pool activities including rentals, programs and special events; all pool maintenance including chemicals, water balance, backwashing, operation of pool computer, vacuum operation, and maintain facility sanitation; provide for the safety of all patrons utilizing the pool facility; providing and ensuring premier customer service to patrons. This position may also, in coordination with the Head Lifeguard and Head of Guest Experiences, develop and conduct in-service training, supervise the collection and deposits of all pool monies, prepare reports on pool operations, pool patrons, maintenance, programs, rentals, & special events as needed; and plan, facilitate, supervise, and evaluate participants in structured learn to swim classes; performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by educating customers, resolving customer concerns, meeting customer needs, responding to requests and helping to maintain a safe and clean pool environment in a professional manner.
- Assist with training, scheduling, motivating, correcting, and supervising all pool personnel. Ensure that all shifts are covered.
- Instructs, plans, prepares, and evaluates water safety instruction programs.
- Assist with rentals, programs, and special events for the pool.
- Oversee general facility maintenance and cleanliness including water balance, chemical regulation, backwashing, filling pools, operating pool computer system, cleaning bathhouse restrooms, pool house areas, pool, pool deck, pool yard, and pool equipment.
- Coordinates lifeguard rotations and ensures lifeguards are on duty during all pool use. May assist on stand as needed.
- Assists in providing in-service training each week on safety and emergency procedures.
- Implement and supervise cash management procedures; verify accuracy of revenue reports; reconcile reports and institute controls on cash handling as needed.
- Render emergency care as needed.
- Ensure all State of Texas and City of Cedar Hill pool regulations and policies are followed during the pool season. Ensures enforcement of regulations and policies by pool staff.
- Assists in ordering items for proper pool operations.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Requires regular attendance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Less than high school education is acceptable.
- At least two seasons as a lifeguard (approximately six months), or similar managerial experience required.
- Current American Red Cross certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguarding, and Water Safety Instructor Certification or equivalent are required. - Must pass pre-employment skills test for Lifeguarding.
