The purpose of this position is to maintain City codes by enforcing code violations. This is accomplished by enforcing ordinances and investigating and resolving violations. Other duties may include obtaining and providing information regarding ordinances, resolving violations, maintaining records, assisting the general public, obtaining necessary information from other cities and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
This position generally works Tuesday-Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will include some evenings and weekends, as necessary to attend neighborhood meetings and community events.

- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Notifies public of nuisances by sending letters and notifications and issuing citations. May represent the Code Enforcement Department at neighborhood meetings and community events.
- Resolves violations by reviewing and investigating violations of city codes and zoning ordinances and speaking with complainants.
- Maintains and updates files and information by locating records, preparing needed reports and logging inspections.
- Assists the general public by answering the telephone, responding to inquiries and providing information on departmental and city policies and procedures
- Obtains information from other cities by researching city ordinances, speaking with various entities to obtain information, composing letters, faxing information and reporting to upper management or city council.
- Regular attendance is required, including evening/weekend neighborhood meetings and community events, when needed.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of related experience required. Direct experience in municipal code enforcement preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver's License required, with acceptable driving record.
- Basic Code Enforcement Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Preference may be given to candidates that are bilingual in English/Spanish.
