What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Custodial Attendant position at City of Cedar Hill?
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Performs routine cleaning including but not limited to: cleaning glass, picking up litter, straightening and organizing furniture and library items, as well as maintaining cleanliness of the restrooms and other areas of the library (indoors and outdoors).
- In collaboration with the Parks team, picks up and removes litter and debris from grounds on a daily basis, wearing appropriate clothing to work outdoors, in all temperatures.
- Ensures the library and all equipment, furniture, systems are in good working order; Identifies and reports maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Performs set-up and tear down of event spaces for classes and rentals as needed. Works closely with event staff to coordinate this task.
- Follow proper cleaning and operating procedures as defined by supervisor. Keep facility clean to expected standards of cleanliness through dusting all furniture and fixtures; spot cleaning walls and toilet partitions; cleaning entrances and exits, including glass, doors, and hardware; emptying and maintaining all garbage cans and recycle bins; maintaining all floor surfaces through sweeping and mopping, with support of Maintenance Crew Chief
- Operates and assists in maintaining various types of equipment including vacuums, carpet extractors, auto scrubbers, mops, dust mops, lifts for cleaning and performing maintenance in high places, and various manual tools.
- Safely handles cleaning chemicals, utilizing appropriate personal protection equipment. Assist with inventory of chemicals and maintain custodial closets.
- Report damages and acts of vandalism
- Provide ongoing cleaning and restocking of paper products, dispensers and soap products in locker rooms and restrooms.
- Provide building coverage and maintain security throughout the workday.
- Make minor maintenance repairs as needed, with support of Maintenance Crew Chief.
- Regular attendance required, including some weekends, as necessary.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent education/experience required.
- Prior experience as a custodian in a commercial environment preferred. Basic computer skills in MS Office, including Word and Outlook required.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
