The purpose of this position is to monitor and maintain the state computer system and handle citizen interaction by managing records and customer service within the Cedar Hill Police Department. This is accomplished by operating the TCIC/NCIC/TLETS computer systems, interacting with citizens in the lobby area, and directing incoming phone traffic. Other duties may include record and alarm permit maintenance, entering/logging vacation house checks, close patrols, coordination of logbook, general office duties and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide directions to other employees. This position does perform shift work: nights and weekends are required.

- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Monitors TLETS computer by entering and clearing warrants, stolen articles, stolen vehicles, missing persons and protective orders, running drivers’ license checks, wanted persons checks and criminal histories and confirming data base entries with other interested departments. Operates and maintains cash register and completes transactions
- Monitors the lobby and phones by greeting citizens, directing visitors to desired departments, answering incoming calls and directing calls to appropriate individuals or departments.
- Maintains records and databases by separating, distributing and entering Police reports, citations and accident reports, retrieving and copying records upon request, checking for outstanding warrants, checking the status of missing or stolen items and running background checks. Coordinates issuance of warrant numbers for arrests and charges.
- Administers alarm permits, close patrol locations, and vacation house checks by maintaining permit records for the city, and maintaining a computerized list of active/non active locations.
- Must be able to render credible testimony in a court of law.
- Regular attendance required, including the ability to work all shifts, as assigned, which may include holidays, daytime, evening and/or overnight hours.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License (Class C) required.
- Must obtain and maintain CJIS security clearance.
- Must possess or obtain TCIC/NCIC Certification within six months of employment.
- Must obtain a telecommunicators license within one year of employment. Must complete any education requirements to keep certification active and up to date.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must successfully complete a six-month new hire introductory period.
