The purpose of this position is to assist the Senior Activity Center with the maintenance, operations and programming for adults 55 throughout Cedar Hill. This position will assist the Parks & Recreation Department with providing and scheduling a variety of activities & programs for adults 55 , including special events, fitness, recreation, leisure activities, and trips. Other duties may include providing information and referrals to participants and volunteers. This position occasionally provides direction to other employees and volunteers, in the absence of the Senior Activity Center staff and may operate transportation vehicles (13 passenger bus) as needed.
This position will generally work Monday – Friday 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., with special events and after-hours, as needed.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Assists the Parks & Recreation Department with planning and promoting a variety of activities/events for adults 55 , drafting activity schedule for older adult activities, such as special events, fitness, recreation and leisure activities and trips. Interacts with employees and the public by answering inquiries, resolves complaints and grievances, responds to emergencies, and assists patrons as needed.
- Assists the Senior Activity Center Supervisor with monthly calendar of activities and events. Assists with developing, coordinating, evaluating, and supervising a variety of activities for adults 55 including, but not limited to, meal and transportation programs, recreation, education, fitness opportunities, trips and special events. Assist with department wide special events and activities.
- Assists with the planning, coordination, reporting and implementation of a free lunch program for adults 55 .
- Assists the Senior Activity Center by opening, closing and securing facilities, ensuring equipment functionality and safety, performing light maintenance, readying concessions and supplies needed for kitchen operation as needed.
- Assists Senior Activity Center with the financial management of programs by coordinating and entering program registrations, collecting fees for programs and facility use, managing cash flows, requisitioning, and purchasing supplies, and completing and filing reports.
- Assists with managing the Senior Activity Center by scheduling and allocating rooms for City sponsored events, securing programs and speakers, enforcing facility use and safety policies and monitoring facility’s program activities.
- Assists with providing information to the public about all parks & recreation facilities; specifically focusing on activities and programming for adults 55 , by preparing and issuing print material, electronic advertisement, social media and promotional campaigns.
- Assists with schedules and maintaining the use of transportation including but not limited to, senior trips, internal city use, and maintenance.
- Regular attendance required. May include evening, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
- High school education or GED required.
- Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes and proficiently operate a PC.
- At least six months to one year in a customer service-related position or recreational environment required. Preference may be given to candidates with direct work experience with senior citizens.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License required.
- First Aid, AED, and CPR required within 6 months of hire.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and email is required. Experience with Active net Software preferred.
